12th October 2005: New Work at Height Regulations come into force |
The
new Work at Height Regulations 2004 is now in force. There is no
minimum height specified by these regulation. It will include any work
activity where there is a need to control the risk of falling a
distance liable to cause injury.
It will be regardless
of the work equipment being used, the length of time a person is at
height, or the height at which the work is carried out. So this can in
fact be someone just using a small stepladder in on office
environment.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ME? If you carry out any tasks that involve an
employee working from any height above floor level, then you must
carry out a risk assessment before that work commences and either
eliminate or reduce the risk of a person falling from height.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO? Visit
www.healthandsafetysmart.co.uk and complete the new section on
working at height if applicable to you.

27th May 2005: From one man and
his dog to this........! |
Care Home Insurance Services started was originally set up by
David Waters (pictured below left) in 1997 and was based in
Seaford, East Sussex in an idyllic countryside location.
As the business grew, the staff numbers have steadily increased from
the original one to the grand total in the picture below (right), with
our Head Office occupying a brand new premises in the centre of
Brighton and also a regional office in Wakefield. The Brighton office is
larger, lighter and modern which creates an even more positive
environment for those working there and reflects the CHIS growth
history and plans for the future. The only one who isn't quite so
happy is David's dog as the country office suited him better!
