COSHH Assessments and Health & Safety Training
Many of our clients have found CSCI are
currently pursuing a very tough approach on all Health & Safety
matters, amongst others, and especially in relation to the Control of
Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). We currently have a client who
is being sued following a resident consuming a cleaning fluid which
was taken from an old lemonade bottle and the resident assumed was
lemonade. This obviously should never have happened and there is
currently a line of enquiry into a rogue member of staff.
We have reviewed the training 'offers' available to care homes in
relation to all aspects of Health & Safety and found one company -
Capricorn Care Ltd - who have Health & Safety qualified trainers, are
able to visit CHIS clients to review any and all aspects of Health &
Safety causing you any concern and have agreed a charging structure
which we have negotiated at very reasonable levels of less than £400
per day, with further discounts available for any projects in excess
of two days. CHIS and insurers will be meeting a part of Capricorn's
charges to achieve this level of cost to our care home clients, as we
are committed to Health & Safety training as being a major
contribution to reduced claims frequency and costs.
If you have any interest in the Health & Safety training please either
let us know or contact Capricorn Care directly - our contact is the
MD, Gordon Goodall - on local call rate, 08700 671717. Their web site
address is
www.capricorncare.co.uk
While there is no moral to this story, CHIS and our insurers are
committed to helping all our care home clients achieve the highest
level of Health & Safety training and would be very interested to hear
back from clients using Capricorn's services about the benefits (and
negative aspects) they find.
